A series of parent-child workshops for children aged 12 to 24 months, with a focus on a favourite and fun children’s story, a different one each time. The workshops aim to develop the bond between child and adult, immerse children in English, early literacy, mathematics, and bring to them concepts that help them understand the world around them at a developmentally appropriate level. The workshops are facilitated by experienced playgroup teachers that will engage with the children through sensory activities, arts and crafts and music, as well as advise parents on how to support their child’s development at home. It is a great way for parents to observe and join their child in a setting where they will have chances for independence, as well as time for doing activities together, to strengthen their bond. Parents can also experience our philosophy and methodology of a British, play-based education, see our Babies and Toddlers Centre and meet our teachers. They can find out more about our seamless journey of education from 6 months to College at Mount Kelly (Babies and Toddlers to Pre-nursery to Preschool to Prep to College). The session on 14 June 2019 is Entitled “Hungry Heroes”. As Eric Carle’s story The Very Hungry Caterpillar turns 50 years old this year, we’ve chosen this book as a tribute to his distinctly simple stories and iconic, colourful and hand-painted tissue paper illustrations. We hope to captivate the next generation of children to enjoy good literature from an early age and show parents ways to engage them with literacy to develop a life-long love of reading.
